Default High Carbohydrates

I have seen some posts here which I followed up on and found that I am eating way to much carbohydrates. So I actually come to you for help in finding some good low carbohydrates to eat. I tried the site on one of the posts about USDA Pyramid Diet or so. I could not get it to open so I am here. Hope there is good input for this. Please Mod if this is wrong place for this post re post it correctly.

Rick I am not 100% sure I understand your question. Low carbohydrates won't be a food source, but rather about portion size. Anything can be low carbs ranging from a huge steak to a very tiny slice of bread.

Important tips;
Eat healthy carbs and avoid refined flours and sugars.
Consume adequate fiber.
Time a large percentage of your daily carbs before and after your workout when your body will use it most effectively.
Always consume carbs with a protein source.

Hey thanks for the list. I had seen it in the past but forgot about it. I am loading up on asparagus for 3 times per week.

Thanks Commander for your help. You actually my question 2 times. Portions determine whether you have a lot of carbohydrates or lower carbs. I thin is what you meant. I understand perfectly now.

speaking of carbs..

according to the ABC Journel... and the calculations provided - I should consume 62 grams of carbs (dex/mon) post workout.

That's a lot of sugar....


Whats your guy's thoughts regarding this and a potential diabetes risk? That's more grams of sugar than a coke.

So attempted the high carb thing with dex/mon

My urine is coca cola now (im not dehydrated). Based on my knowledge I either got serious issue requiring hospitalization or I got excess glucose which isn't able to be handled by my body so its passing through my urine. aka brown urine.

Thoughts?

Im really excited about the philosophy to incur a insulin spike pwo to curb cortisol, I just want to take the right amount of carb and not create a diabetic situation.

Not sure why the urine was brown.

However, for healthy individuals, spiking insulin is completely fine and even for someone who is diabetic, their body will utilize the sugar consumed around a workout much better than they typically handle sugar. A diabetic might want to start with a smaller amount of sugar and gradually work up and resistance training improves their blood glucose levels.

I personally start to drink my workout drink before the training session. Maybe give that a try to see if you use the dextrose more effectively.

I appreciate the reply McBride.

Perhaps the urine change is from excess aminos? I custom blend my EAAs. I guess what I will do is back off all of it, guzzle the water, and only do the protein and carb. If the coloration goes away, ill know it is because of the aminos.

I am definitely curious, I have never had urine that dark before, but I stay very hydrated.

Are you drinking enough water?

Also, I can't imagine it would be the aminos, the beauty of aminos is that they bypass the gut and get straight into the bloodstream. I would think your aminos are being used regardless and not being passed as waste.
