Question Are there a Max Set of Calories We Can Digest at One Sitting?

For instance, if I ate a meal containing 1,000 calories can my digestive system actually effecietly utilze the whole caloric intake? Is there a set limit to what the body can digest in any given meal time?

There isn't a set limit digestion will slow down to accommodate it , but.. The bigger the meal the more likely you are to store fat.

That's was I thought. However, I have read numerous studies, opinions, etc from folks who claim that our bodies can only digest a certain amount of protein per sitting. I wasn't sure if that applied also to carbs and fats. Or is that a myth as well? Will the protein, carb, fat ratio content contained in a meal make a difference with digestion.? In other words is there a certain limit of grams per protien, carb, fat that the body can handle in any given sitting?

Anyway, thanks for the input klosey! At least it's good to know the meal will digest and not be expelled.

Its one of those its not a myth.....but it kind of is.... they used to say you could only digest 30g in a sitting, but what is a sitting? an hour, 2 hours, 30mins? whats the content... 30g bcaa would digest in minutes.... 30g egg might take an hour... 30g casein might take 6 hour... its all perspective, there isnt really a set number...
The problem with ''studies'' is its one persons opinion regarding how the results of a test read....you don't know its bias, the dr bias etc.. until it is peer reviewed i wouldnt bother with the studies......

example would be... if say the cheese board (yes it actually exists) hired a dr to do a study on the effects of cheese at night, and the results came back as ....
Cheese helps you sleep and gives pleasant dreams...

would you believe it?

Makes sense klosey! I used to notice how if I would mix a solid type protein with pure pasteurized egg whites, that I wouldn't get the runs. I would stack the egg whites when I needed an extra boost of protein so I didn't have to cook them. However, when I would drink them by themselves, I would shiatsu like a goose man! And talking about stank, the sulpher(?) would literally make you sick.
