Day 33 - Workout 18 - 2/11/11

Paused Bench Opener:
45x8
95x5
135x1
155x1
165x1
175x1 (No leg drive, but felt good)

Quick workout today just working up to my opener. The floor at the gym is way too dirty and slippery to get any kind of leg drive. So 175 actually seemed alittle slow but if I get any kind of leg drive at competition, it'll go up easily. Been reading some articles on how to properly plan your attempts so I'm going to write down all my attempts this weekend. Squat opener on Sunday.

Day 35 - Workout 19 - 2/13/11

Squat Opener:
45x5
95x5
135x2
165x1
185x1
205x1
225x1

Speed Deadlift:
135x7x1

Worked up to my squat opener. Felt alittle weird for the 1st set or two but everything got better after that. 225 felt nice, my right wrist hurt more than anything else. Did 7 singles of speed deadlifts with small rests inbetween. Got my set up down as good as its going to get and the speed of the lifts felt very quick and maintained speed throughout the sets. Wednesday will be my last lifting day before competition. Will do some light squat and bench, probably 3x3 at about 75%.

Haha, thanks. As long as you're there yelling at me, I know I'll be fine.

Thanks man. I've been wanting to update it, just haven't had anything worth updating it for. This week it will change though.

Day 38 - Workout 20 - 2/16/11

Paused Bench:
150x3x3

Squat:
190x2x2

Light stuff today, 75%, just to stay use to the lifts and commands and get a workout in with my singlet. Never used one before so it felt weird at first but forgot about it by the end. Last workout before the meet. We got about 10 people from the FSU Weightlifting Club going down together so we should come back with atleast 30 PRs, probably more. Can't wait!

Started squat with 220 lbs. I guess I was alittle nervous and I went really far down but it was super quick and got on the board. 2nd attempt was 242 lbs and it was closer to parallel but still quick and still good. We decided for the "high" attempt for my 3rd attempt which was 259 lbs, a competition and gym PR. Alittle struggle but I got it, might have gotten 5 lbs more but it wasn't worth risking 17 lbs to gain 5 more.

Started bench with 170, felt nice and fast. Bumped up to 192 for 2nd attempt and it was quick but I didn't get any leg drive on it. So we took the "medium" 3rd attempt of 203, which is a competition and gym PR for paused bench. It was the perfect choice because I got it but probably wouldn't have gotten 209 if I went for that instead. 6 for 6 with 2 PRs going into deadlift.

When I was warming up for deadlifts, the weights felt alittle heavy. It made sense since I already squatted and it was a long day. Last warm up was 315 and it felt heavy, so we decided to drop my opener from 360 lbs to 330 lbs. 330 lbs felt easier than my 315 warm up. Bumped up to 360 lbs for 2nd attempt and that felt quick too. I wanted another PR and I've done 385 lbs before so 391 lbs was staring me in the face. I spent my whole rest period just picturing the weight go up. Got pumped up more than any of my other lifts and got the job done.

Finished the day 9 for 9 with a PR in every lift and a PR in my total. Couldn't have asked for a better day. I believe my competition PR went up 53 lbs and my Wilk's coefficient went up as well. The team captain has my camera because he is splicing all our lifts together, but I'll have the videos of my attempts up some time this week.

I couldn't have done this without the team and especially without Mike. He helped me pick the perfect attempts to leave nothing on the table. I probably wouldn't have been able to do that last deadlift attempt without him pumping me up more than ever before. It was a great weekend.
