Comp. Cycle Workout #28, 12-13-09: Bench
Bench 275-1 (Paused) 290-1 (Paused) 225-3 (Paused) Easy very light, just winding down before next Saturday's meet trying to find my bench opener. Probably open with 290 it looks like, that was a joke today even with a fairly long pause. Going to hit squat and deadlift openers tomorrow and determine my opener from there.

Comp. Cycle Workout #29, 12-14-09: Squat/Deadlift
Squat 365-1 385-1 Deadlift 455-1 Easy, nice and light. Just hitting my openers. 365 could have been done for 4-5 reps so I hit 385 and it was still very light. I may increase my opener to 385. 455 seems like a good opener as it was still very easy after squats. Just winding down here, off tomorrow and then some DE bench Wednesday (maybe my opener paused) and the time to kill it next Saturday.

Yeah man, I agree that would have just been to long to not do the movement. The frequency was needed.

Comp. Cycle Workout #30, 12-16-09: Bench
Bench 275-1 (Paused) 225-3 (Paused) That's it, crazy light and easy in the last workout. USAPL Maryland State Powerlifting Championships on Saturday. Division: RAW 181 Open. Weighing in right now at about 176, just hit very light today. As of now openers are looking as follows: Squat - 370, Bench - 290, Deadlift - 450. It's possible I may open heavier because those are all very light attempts for me, but I believe that your opener should be your last warm-up. I will total 1200, it must be done, time to win the battle against gravity. I'll report the results Saturday after the meet, until then I will be listening to Metallica and eating as much food as I possibly can.

The USAPL Maryland State Championships scheduled for this past Saturday Dec. 19th was postponed due to the 2 feet of snow which hit the area. I live in Florida and won't be here when it is rescheduled. Now, I just about broke my hand and gave myself a concussion from slamming into the wall out of anger when I got a call from my friend, USAPL judge, and meet director. He has his own powerlifting gym in the area and he invited 10 of us to have a meet of our own (albeit no longer sanctioned by the USAPL) at his gym, Supreme Sports PT (Physical Training) in lieu of the USAPL meet. So, all was fine and in my mind the meet was on, here is how it went:
Weighed in at 176. Squat: 369-Good Lift 387-No Lift 402-Good Lift Lost my balance on the 2nd attempt, but the weight was light so I knew 402 wouldn't be a problem. 402 was solid, it was about my limit, so I didn't really leave anything out there. Bench: 286-Good Lift 292-Good Lift 297-No Lift This was disappointing, because I hit 320 touch and go a week and a half ago. My warm-ups felt awful, however, and I new that this would be about it. I was overtrained on bench and should have taken more time off the week leading up to the meet. Deadlift 451-Good Lift 473-Good Lift 490-Good Lift All attempts felt good and with a fourth attempt I feel like 500 would have gone up without a problem. Total-1185 A solid day, 7/9. Now I have 5 more pounds to gain to get to 181. Without question I will do the following at 181: Squat-500, Bench-335, Deadlift-600. I took off yesterday and am taking of today as I still can't move and have a headache. I believe I will be back in there tomorrow.

Sorry about the USAPL meet being cancelled, but at least you got a feel from where you are at now. Congrats on some big lifts.
What is the time frame for your new goals of 500, 335, and 600?
