Default Rest period frequency and duration

I was just wondering, every how often is it best to take a break for rest before the overstress signals appear and for how long?

I usually take a week off every few months.

i kinda go by feel. but usually every 8 to ten weeks i take a week off and completely rest.

i just take a long weekend every couple of months, last workout on a thurs, next one the following tues.
