Default Breakfast

I usually skip breakfast because I am too tired and wake up too early to eat anything before school. However, is a protein shake a good thing to have real quick in the morning or should I only eat breakfast if it is an actual meal?

A shake is ok, why not make hard boiled eggs the night before and oatmeal takes a minute to make (literally). Bam! It takes no time to eat either...

you don't even need to cook the oats, my breakfast takes literally 3 minutes from the time I put the ingredients in to the time I am done drinking it:
2 cups water, 1 scoop whey, 1.67 cups of oats uncooked, cinnamon

Blend and enjoy

What kind of whey do you use in that.

a lot of people find it hard to eat raw oats; i recommended cooking em just based on personal preference. but for an even easier breakfast raw oats will certainly do the trick

I have these fine ground oats, literally like flour. Just add the ground oats, whey (i use chocolate) to some milk, maybe a tablespoon of ground flax seed. Also you could add two teaspoons of instant coffee, i got one called mellow birds or something its just like a powder, grab a banana on the way out and your good to go.

(just realized this is the first time one of my posts has not been a question, hope i gave the right advice, i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong)

I totally agree with the idea about the oats and the whey. Its important to have a similar meal and not to skip meals either.

5 meals should be the minimum (unless its a real short day with less waking hours) and you can make that even with as simple as 3 meals and 2 shakes.

As for breakfast, I think its important to have some sort of oats and a lean protein source at the minimum. Personally I've been eating egg whites and oatmeal every day and getting good results with that.

The reason why I say its important is because you need carbohydrates first thing in the morning no matter what your goals are. If you are cutting you need the carbs to get your thyroid glands kicking to start burning calories and keep your metabolism going, suppress cortisol, and to get some sugar to the brain. Without that your body won't be able to burn off the fat real good. But even for a bulk, you probably need the same basics, but with extra calories some how. Obviously you need protein too. And as for fat, you just don't need that much saturated fat. That is unless you are extremely active, but even then you would be better off getting the extra calories from something else, not saturated fat.

I like the idea with the uncooked oats and whey. Real good.

Let the oats soak in the whey (chocolate is best IMHO). This is my pre-workout meal at work: 1 scoop whey and 1/2c oats... let it sit for 5-10 minutes and the oats expand and become nice and chewy
