Silva
Liddel Kongo Quarry I'm with Maverick....if you do any betting, it wouldn't hurt to bet some for Leites. He seems to be a legitimate opponent, and while I do not think he will, I would not be surprised at all if he beat Anderson Silva. Remember when Lutter mounted Silva? Leites is way better than Lutter and I believe he could pull it off. I am a member of a free betting site (yes, they give you money to start and you can potentially win a decent amount if you are good enough), and I am picking Leites just for the simple fact I won't be losing anything. I could also see MacDonald beating Quarry, but I just think Quarry is too much for him. If Shogun is in shape, then it could also be the end of Chuck's career. |

Really hard one to pick, MacDonald is really inconsistent, can never really get on a roll, much like Jardine, he wins one, loses one, so on. He lost his last fight so now he's due to win, but thats not why I picked him. I'm going w/ experience, MacDonald has fought the more notable opponents. Both have fought and lost to Maia and Franklin, but MacDonald has also fought against Gouveia, Okami, Leben, Cote and Eastman. Experience is what swayed my vote in this one.

Dana said that Chuck is retired... at least in the UFC, he knows he could still make money off of him, but he's afraid for his health. I believe I went 3-5 last night, horrible picks.

I think Chuck will be gone for awhile and then come back.
I think he should work on his ground game for a really long time, come back and surprise everyone with a take down lol. How pathetic was Thales "the possum" Laites? anyone?

I was very disappointed in Thales Leites! I won't even give him props for going the distance because he didn't put in an effort. Dropping onto your back anytime your opponent comes close to you is not what I believe the UFC is all about.

This is what I was thinking during the Silva fight.
Thales, you got two rounds left either you get in there and brawl or your gonna come down to a split and you know your not gonna win that. As much as Thales sucked, Silva I thought was disappointing as well. I mean he didnt throw any knees, didnt get him in any clinches. Only leg kicks and a few jabs. And if Silva really is the best fighter in that weight class and the well rounded fighter, why not get on top of him and see if you can roll with him. So he is good at jujit, FINISH HIM OFF! Then again why fight if you dont have to? Why risk it? The whole fight was just frustrating.

I think Laites is training with frank Mir. hes all about getting really scared, falling on the ground, and then going for an ankle lock. When someone elike Dana White gives you the opertunity to become a champion and fight Silva none the less, you have to fight for it. Laites had no respect for the oppertunity given to him, and wasted my paperview dollars

The boredom in that fight was as much Silva's fault as it was Leites's. Leites recognized halfway through that he could literally do nothing to Silva standing, but at least he tried. Silva on the other hand, avoided the ground at all costs where Leites might have had a shot.
That said, Silva did exactly what he needed to do to win safely. Like he said at the end, 99% of the people watching don't understand what its like to be in there. He's not going to swing for the fences when he is already controlling the fight. I was bored, disappointed, but I don't fault Silva for fighting the way he did. I'm so sick of watching American fight productions. I want to ***king scream everytime I hear the crowd start booing because no one is swinging like its a drunken bar fight. You almost never hear that in the Japanese productions. |
