STRIKEFORCE PREDICTIONS

Shamrock over Diaz
Humphrey over Rogers
Santos over Akano
Melendez over Damm

I really dislike Diaz and i'm picking Shamrock to come in and shut him up...i also don't think Rogers is as good as he thinks he is...i would love to see him get a fight with Kimbo, but i believe Humphrey will hand Rogers his first loss...not big on women fighting but i'm choosing Santos to decision Akano. Melendez is just a fly by the seat pick.

I'm only going to pick the main event tonight, trying to play it safe.

Shamrock over Diaz

Honestly the only way I can see Diaz winning is by decision, Shamrock has only been KO'd once in his career, incredibly hard to KO, as you could see from his last bout with Cung Le, he took a couple kicks to the head and was still standing. I don't see Diaz submitting Shamrock either he's only be submitted twice and that was really early in his career. My only doubt about Shamrock is the layoff he hasn't fought in over a year, Diaz on the other hand has fought and won 3 times since then. I'm gonna go out on the limb and say Shamrock via split decision.

Diaz definitely looked good on his feet, dispite his antics I've always respected him and his brother as fighters, I really hope to see him back competing at 170 or even 155 in UFC.

OK UFC 97 predictions, here we go. Man there are some tough ones to call here, particularly the Liddell v. Rua fight, since who knows which version of them are showing up in the octagon.

1) Silva over Leites
2) Liddel over Shogun
3) Kongo over Hardonk
4) Loiseau over Herman
5) Quarry over MacDonald (might change)

1) duh, but I might put a couple bucks on Leites since the odds are +350 for him.
2) Here's the thing, I think if you put both of these fighters in their prime, Liddell wins. A prime Shogun brings a dynamic, ferocious onslaught of attacks, and a prime Liddell waits for his moment and right overhands that type of attacker to sleep. I'm banking on both being in better condition then we've seen them in in a while and Liddel coming out on top, possibly with a big KO victory.
3) Another tough one since either can end it quick with strikes. I'm hoping to see improved ground skills from Kongo, or not ground fighting at all!
4) I used to love watching "The Crow" fight and I'm excited to see him back. If it gets aired, get ready for Rogan to mention how dangerous his elbows are. This is a total fanboy pick since he hasn't seen the UFC in almost 3 years.
5) This is another really tough one to call, 2 very good fighters who both have losses only to top level guys. I need to do a little more research before committing to this one.

1)Anderson Silva vs. Thales Leites
2)Chuck Liddell vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
3)Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Brian Stann
4)Cheick Kongo vs. Antoni Hardonk
5)Vinicius Magalhaes vs. Eliot Marshall
6)Jason MacDonald vs. Nate Quarry
7)Ed Herman vs. David Loiseau
8)Sam Stout vs. Matt Wiman

1)Silva was really unhappy with his last victory over Cote, so he's coming out with something to prove that's very unfortunate for Leites.
2)I went back and forth on this one, I do believe both men will come into this match better than we've recently seen. I believe what swayed my pick was Liddell is training w/ American Top Team, I would like to see Chuck stick to his gameplan, allow Shogun to be aggressive and catch him on the run.

HardCory, why MacDonald over Quarry? I'm having a really hard time deciding that one.

Soszynski is slightly favored, but I don't know if I would call his loss an upset.

Surprised in the lack of Shogun love. I guess his last few UFC performances have taken their toll on his fanbase.

Imagine for a second how awesome this fight would have been 3 years ago... man, that would have been great, those 2 were the kings of the LHW at that time.

agreed...shogun gassing in the first minute of the last fight did it for me...3 years ago this would have been an even bigger hit
