Surgery went well on Thursday, was a little sick afterward, but besides that everything has been good. I'm in the least amount of pain of my three surgeries. Like I mentioned earlier the Dr. said it will be 24 week rehab. The first two weeks consists of no movement in the shoulder. I am allowed to move my elbow which I have been doing a couple times a day. PT starts after the two weeks is up, I'll be documenting everything here. I'll say it now I have complete faith in the Lord that I will be back, and I'm coming back bigger, faster and stronger.

Glad to hear that the surgery went well and you definitely have the right attitude going forward. I look forward to following along with your rehab.

One week removed from the surgery, I've been surprised that the pain has almost been nonexistent this time around. Today I saw my doctor, he said the incisions looked good, my stitches were removed and I'll be starting PT next Friday. To start out I'll be going at least twice a week, the doctor mentioned that my joint locked up laterally at around 90 degrees, he was able to get the full ROM, but said he heard a lot of scarred tissue breaking up in the process. So initially I need to get in there more frequent to prevent the joint from locking up again. As mentioned in my previous posts my deltoid was paralyzed by the dislocation and still remains. He has given me exercises to do at home to see if I can get the muscle to contract. If I'm unable to by my next appointment I have to see a nerve specialist. The doctor says there is a chance that the nerve is dead, but he's never seen it before. So as of right now I'll be doing those daily as well as moving around my elbow a few times a day. I'll update everyone after my first PT appointment.

2 weeks down, as of Thursday I am now out of the immobilizer. I've been doing the exercise daily to attempt to stimulate the muscle contraction in my deltoid and I believe it's working, it's not a great contraction, but one nonetheless. Yesterday I was supposed to go to my first PT appointment, but we got hit with a big snow storm that prevented that. I called my PT up and he gave me some stuff I could do at home to get the ball rolling. I'm glad I have a high tolerance for pain or else I'd probably couldn't hold myself accountable. I believe it was a successful first day, just need to take it a day at a time. I have two PT appointments early next week weather permitting, I'll update everyone next week.

Week 3 done moving onto week 4. Had my first PT appt on Monday it went well, got a good program together that I've been doing at home. I asked my PT if I could do the program more than once a day he basically said it's up to me and how much I can tolerate the pain. Since that day I've been doing it at least twice a day, today and the next couple days I'm going to three. I'm applying the same work ethic/discipline that I used in the gym and on my diet to my rehab so I'm hoping for good results. On a good note my deltoid is no longer paralyzed I have a healthy contraction once again. I'm able to lift my arm as well. Looking to make week 4 the most intense week thus far I'll update everyone next week.

Yeah it had me a little scared for awhile, but I'm thankful that it's back. Another weekly update, had a good week for PT doing my stretches and exercises 2-3 times a day. I've found that this past week I've really had to push myself to stay motivated to do them, but after my appointment on Tuesday I know the work is paying off. My external rotation is about where it needs to be at 6 weeks out and I just hit 4 weeks. The rest of the movements are improving each session. The weather has been extremely cold lately and I'm feeling the effects of it, shoulder gets really tight and sore. All in all ready to start the new year and ready to keep this ball going hoping to be back in the gym full time in early May.

Week 5 down, everything is still going well getting a lot of movement back. Next week I see my Dr. to find out if my progress is to his liking, and for him to sign off on my next stage of physical therapy which I entails getting my external rotation back. Not sure when strengthening via weights comes in possibly @ 12 weeks, I will know for sure soon. Until then it's all about staying consistent with my home regimen.

Thanks, the last couple days I've found myself not favoring my arm as much as I have the past 4 months, very motivating that it's becoming a functioning limb once again. Gotta say the pain after surgery was the least of my three, and the rehab is going the best of the three, so I'm keeping the faith and going to keep moving forward.
