Smile Back to work in Baghdad

Hey guys. Well It has been a LONG time. Since my last log in I have joined the Army funny how time fly's.

I just got back into Iraq and now that the Army lets me work out on my own (as opposed to running around like a idiot outside in the NC cold) I will be hitting the gym hard. Its been a bit since I have lifted weights hard and I'm looking forward to the DOMS again.

I will update this in a few hours with my first workout.

OK so tonight's workout was not the best I have been sick from the freaking dust that covers this country. But here it is don't laugh :P

Back day

Pull up: 25 no weight
Supported Rows 4*10 only 45 lbs on bar and I failed on last set at rep 8
Pull downs: 12*3 100 lbs on machine
cable rows: 12*3 110 cheated on last set
back extensions (I dont know the real name its like a reverse sit-up) 20*3 no weight

My back is the weakest part of my body by far. I had a previous injury (fell out of a plane too hard) and I feel like I need to work it up slow.

Alright guys have a good day I'm off to sleep in a bit.

Today was a easy day for me. Just did 30 min of high intensity cardio today. It was about 80-90% of max.

Today I slept in!! Man it has been a long time since I awoke to my clock saying 0700. I feel fantastic today. I will be hitting the gym hard tonight.

I have a problem with my shoulders. I have some form of rotator cuff injury. It’s not torn of anything that serious but I have pretty bad irritation issues when I lift shoulders or do close hand chest work. In the states I would work though it most of the time but now that I'm in country I need to be able to lift my arms. So I'm a bit worried about my shoulder development. I need to do some research on strengthening techniques for the rotator cuff.

I also buckled down and spent some $$$ on supplements yesterday night. Unfortunately I have to wait for like 10 days before it gets here but whatever I have some whey to hold me over.

L-Glutamine Powder
EAA Stack
ON Whey Gold Standard (cookies n cream)
ON Casein Protein (chocolate supreme)
ZMA
C E Ester 1000

That’s my stack I just got for myself not including the multi and fish oil I have with me already. I could use a bag of dextrose but I have no room for all of this even so until they move us out of this stupid tent it will have to wait.

As for setting goals; I needed to sit down and do this so I figured since I was on guard this would be a perfect time. I will be setting my goals here as a 12 month goal set, I will also start doing monthly goals for strength gains and fat loss/ lean weight gain.
Goals for 12 months:
Body: Go from 180 lbs (give or take a few lbs) to a solid 165.
Weight: not sure yet I need some time to get my 1RM back up a bit before I can set realistic goals.
So really what I’m saying is I have really generic goals that need to be refined. Well I figure I have plenty of time.

Alright today was a shoulder trap day. I have to say its the most underdeveloped part of my weak body. I need to spend a lot more time on my shoulders.

Arnold press 4*12 with 18 lbs yes 18 lbs. I felt pain in my left shoulder as soon as I started to I went down some weight.

DB Lateral raises 4*12 same 18lbs still pain but a bit less the last two sets I felt some clicking so I rest paused

Incline BB raise 4*12 bar

Shrugs 4*12 160, 140, 140, 140

Static hold shrug 4*1 180, 180, 90, 90 The pump from this was great but I think I took some of that pump away from my shoulders and moves it into my forearms. I think I should get some straps.

Well Its embarrassing and sort of depressing to wright that weakness down but It will motivate me to work harder, so its a good thing I guess.

Well today was another depressing day at the gym. I hate to think that I'm weaker today then I was at 16. That's what I get for a drug addiction. Well another workout that really pissed me off, I just need to turn that anger into energy for my will power and I will be good to go. Also I think I need to rework my split, shoulders followed by chest the next day is a stupid idea... not sure why I did that.

DB Bench 4*12 48,48,35,35
BB Bench 4*9 90,70,70,70 (wow)
Machine Bench 2*7 50,50

That is depressing to look at I have sooooo much work to do. At least I have a year to do it!
