hey Commander i know your back east, have you taken a trip to Ellis Island yet? could be cool to find out when your relatives came over
I hate beer, can't stand the taste, unless it is used for cooking. Same with wine, I don't enjoy many wines, but cook with it.....that's a different story. I'm a poor excuse for an Irishman.

I have not been to Ellis Island, but luckily, I have an Aunt who was extensively researched my father's side of the family tree. Anything I'd ever want to know, she'd probably be able to answer it.

It definitely interests me, learning more about my ancestry, just don't have the time now. Family, work and church keep me busy!

---------

Hypertrophy Bench

Good work, your last two bench days have been nice. Good performances with 275 and 230 respectively. I think the next heavy bench day will be a strong showing. Looking forward to today's squat post and next week's deadlift after doing speed pulls this week. Good work, but most impressive is the way you maintained your focus after getting frustrated with squats and coming right back to own the bench days.

Thanks, definitely wasn't going to let squats ruin my bench day.

Just read your post in your competition journal, holy cow, now I know why Prez kept trying to get you to do bodybuilding, your bodyfat percentage is low. Great work. I feel like a fat slob!

------

Heavy Squat day

Squats - I wasn't able to lift as heavy as I'd like, but I nailed my form and tried to make up for it with volume.

Here is where I am at: my bench, OH Press and deadlift are all feeling good. Therefore, this is not a total body issue, it is simply a squat issue. And here's why...

I made the stupid mistake (as discussed a few posts earlier) of using olympic squats and front squats as my MAIN lifts instead of as ASSISTANCE. I just looked back through my journal and realized the last time I squatted heavy in powerlifting style was NOVEMBER. So, basically I got weak because I haven't squatted heavy in 3 months (Dec, Jan, Feb). I am hoping it is mostly a nervous system/motor pattern thing and that I can regain it at a good pace.

Chin-ups
worked up to BW+65x3
BW+20x9

DE Deads
211, 2x2
236, 3x2
261, 3x2
281, 2x2

235...that's some impressive weight on the CGBP! And glad you had a good weekend. Its one thing to know what you want. Its quite another to know which emphasis you place on them, and I respect your God, Family, workout structure!
PS: I tried your single arm shoulder raises this week with my daughter. I cheat...she's only 2 and weighs less than 30 lbs...

Nothing left in the tank for bent row, took it light. All in all, a good day.
