its not the hooking... its the choking you need to worry about!
I would rank being a white belt in Jiu Jitsu (at a good school) as one of the most humbling experiences in the world. You'll be bruised, sore, achy, and tapping out like your sending morse code. If that doesn't bother you, then its about the greatest stuff in the world. I did MMA til I had a pretty bad back injury (bulging cervical disc), and there's nothing quite like pulling off a deft flow and landing someone in a submission. Taking someone out with strikes is great too, but there's so much creativity and art to submission grappling. Gi or no gi? Check these sites out, you can thank me later: http://www.lockflow.com http://www.submissions101.com |

I'm not one for grudges and, well, i love fighting. Physically, not on internet forums.
![]() Be careful spider-man, though, of high intensity workouts if you are taking jiu jitsu seriously. I was doing MMA about 5-7 hours a week and 2 (sometimes only 1) full body, moderate intensity workouts a week were about all I could muster without severely impeding my recovery and athletic ability. |

Yeah, i feel ya. Im gonna start taking in some sterols supps to get my test levels up. Hopefully i don't overtrain that way. NO i had a class tonight, and i was in the beginners class of course but i was doing pretty well, best in THAT PARTICULAR class. I think because im stronger and more confident then everybody else... Anyways started getting a little coky today, and my teacher... Humbled me, lol, by using me to demonstrate some moves(especially since i outweigh him by probably 60 lbs, he's fairly small guy)... HAHA he grabbed me and started puttin me in positions while talking to the rest of the class as i tried desperately to escape! lol never slapped the mat so hard before haha... i guess thats jiu jitsu for ya lol

Im back to doing one set per muscle group (two sets was counter productive), but im gonna do it a little different.
Two exercises per muscle group, alternating the two so every other workout is either preexhaust, or compound flush.. Example, leg extension and squats Workout 1 Leg extension x squat workout 2 Squat x leg extension (actually this way is more painful IMO) Now, on the last rep of each set, i will hold it at the top for fifteen seconds, or as long as i can but fifteen seconds is even hard on the last rep, then take about four seconds to go half way down then hold it for five then down four more seconds to finish the end of the rep. Done.
