Default scales and body fat analyzers

I am trying to get a scale / body fat thingy for less than $100 that is fairly accurate so when I fall off the wagon and tell myself my body is not changing, I will have proof that this is never the case. Any recommendations?

Body fat % scales are poor. You can use calipers if you like (see article in laymans JHR). Otherwise just go by weight, mirror, clothes, performance in gym, measurements like waist.

Even if the scale is not acurate, wont it at least tell me when there is a change in body fat? Is it at least consistently inaccurate?

It can be influenced by a lot of factors like water weight changes. I would not trust them; you'll just be distracted by erroneous numbers.

lol this reminds me....

i went with my uncle ( hes about 40) when he reenlisted in the army a few months ago, and when they did the weight test, in which they used a body fat scale, they told him he was like 32 pounds overweight...

so he rolls up his sleeve and flexes a big arm and goes "does this look like its over weight"? ha ha it was funny.

point is, he's a really muscular dude and the scale told him he was 'fat' basically, where he really only had maybe 12 percent body fat.... there bogus for anyone who has any athletic build at all...
