I'm sure you know what my theory is Just remember, even cardio takes a heavy toll on your body's recovery reserves.

this has been a rough week for me as my body has started to fail me...i ache everywhere...today was cardio...i honestly went in with one goal...i tried to make myself quit...the worse i feel, the more hell i try and put myself through...not sure why, perhaps it is so i don't feel like i'm *****ing out...i'll tell you this...40 second intervals with 20 seconds rest, 10 of them in a row...is the closest thing to hell...i was pumping my arms so fast that i finished with both a lower body and upper body pump...i will never slow down, i will never quit, you can't and won't stop me

-5 x 20 second intervals on stair stepper
-10 x 40 second intervals on elliptical
-10 minutes treadmill walking

I'm an avid Mike Mentzer Heavy Duty follower which states that anything more than is necessary is considered overtraining.

Especially pre-contest! Calorie deficits, high volume weight training AND cardio, not to mention the psychological drain would most definitely result in overtraining. I would definitely take atleast 1 or 2 weeks off immediately after the contest is over. Your mind, body, and especially your connective tissues will thank you for it

i plan on deloading for a couple of weeks...i never recommend anybody take 1 week or even 2 weeks completely off from the gym...detraining occurs very quickly
