Default Modifying post work out shake?

Hope everyone is well, just wanted to know about how I can modify the post work out shake for my benefit. Currently I am on a specific diet and I do not want to add more carbs to my diet and so I would like to remove them from my shake. Just had a few questions

1. Is this a good idea?
2. If I can modify it, how much water should I be using?
3. What about adding leucine to the shake?

I thought I posted this question some time ago but I did not see it on the forum. Oh well, please let me know what you guys think when you get a chance.

take care all.

The carb sources used in the PWO shake are used to replenish the energy you depleted during your workout. I would not recommend replacing or changing the amounts or ingredients if your are trying to build muscle.

Perhaps somebody else can give a more scientific explanation.

You can modify the pwo protocol as you see fit. You won't die if you change a few things to suit yourself better. It is just a good starting point and doesn't have to be followed perfectly.

My opinion is that they are very important, as Obsidian said, and I would rather lower my carbs in other meals.

I've been using a non carb PWO shake for months now.

Whey
15-20 g glutamine
5 g Glycine
10 g Leucine (although I haven't been able to use the leucine lately)
5 g BCAA
5 g creatine
1 g Vitamin C

This is the method used by Christian Thibaudeau. The glutamine and leucine help replenish glycogen.

wow awesome! how much water are you using to make the shake? I suspect you would have to use a little bit less as it would be very watery.

thanks!

Actually, I use as much water as I can usually. This mix gets pretty clunky if it doesn't have enough water in it and isn't properly mixed/shaken.

And no problem! Let me know how it goes!

BTW, just as a warning....it doesn't taste as good as a sugary PWO drink. :P

How is water with these shakes. I have a bad desire to milk it which I know is a no-no for most on here but I'm not to that level yet. Besides traditional milk is there anything else besides water one can use? I like a thicker shake, not a watery one. What about a thickening agent for water then?
