Default Mixing cardio and weights

is it ok to do cardio each time I go to the gym to hit the weights? Or should I be splitting it up like I do with different muscle groups?

cheers

Depends on your goals. If you want to be a mass monster, than they should be separated. If you want to look like your avatar, then intense cardio paired with weight training will likely get you there quickly.

there are alot of opinions but typically agree with what was said. More cardio is going to make you more lean.

okay, but say you mix intense cardio with lifting... you do cardio before or after the workout? and if you do it after the workout, when do you take your PWO shake? after cardio or before?

since I'm cutting, this is what i do on weight training days ...i start with 10 minutes of high intensity cardio for a good solid warm up ...than i do weights for an hour ..then i do 45 minutes of medium intensity cardio at the end ...i find that if your goal is to cut it makes more sense to do your cardio after your weights

I haven't performed this protocol, but I would suggest 10 minutes of steady-state cardio, stairmill, treadmill or jumping rope followed by your weight workout. Then, pound some protein, glutamine and BCAA's, prior to your cardio session.

An advantageous protocol would be to either separate weights and cardio by at least 6-8 hours or perform cardio and weights on different days jmo.

i agree with plates... definitely lift first, dont deplete your energy stores before you lift, you'll be hampering your gains tremendously. as for when to take the nutrients.. not totally sure.. probably after the cardio. it depends on how long you believe the window of opportunity is.
