Awesome article.

Should HMB be cycled or can it be taken like gluatmine or creatine, just year-round?

You should take it according to the amount of muscular damage your body is experiencing. If you are not eliciting muscle damage, it's worthless. Unless you are taking it for health purposes (see article for when it may be applicable for health purposes).

Matthew 7:20
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Well, since I lift frequently, wouldn't that muscular damage be all the time? Forgive me, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Do I have to be injured to take HMB?

Yup, whenever you are lifting hard-core that would be when to use it. If you take time off, or on on a taper, probably won't do much.

I would personally like to see a study on HMBs effects on detraining.
During detraining you have a significant loss of muscle tissue, so at this point it may be beneficial.
