I have purchased a dvd for Julien Greaux. In this dvd there is a small sample of his Circuit Workout. I think this man has a heart of steel...
What do u think about circuit training? is it good and what are the disadvantages?

with circuit training, you're going to be hitting all the major muscle groups with each exercise one right after another. you're going to be burning a lot more calories than conventional training, like focusing on just one or two body parts. it's also a good way to enhance your muscular endurance, but i think that it is not a good way to work on your strength and power.
you're heart rate is going to be elevated through the entire workout, but cardiovascular wise, it won't be enhanced as much with circuit training as if you were to run for 45 minutes or so.

[/ QUOTE ] Depends on what type of circuit training your referring to. I personally am a big fan of crossfit style circuit training and it has helped me increase my cardiovascular performance.

Also, I dont think its a good way to increase muscular size if your into bodybuilding. Also, as husker pointed out, cardio wise, regular cardio such as running is much better than circuit training. Thus, I somewhat look at circuit training as a comprimise on both fronts and that you would be better off doing each in seperate workouts if you wanted to combine both. But thats just my opinion. |
