I've been trying to bulk up but my friggin body says it doesnt like packing on the pounds.

I took 2 body fat tests with different tools, one at the gym with some survey thing and one from a lady selling fitness programs and stuff, the first was 4.7 and the 2nd one was 5.1 but I think thats a little crazy considering I don't veins popping out of my chest and shoulders.

But whatever, been working out about 2 1/2 years or so, used to be all skinny and scrawny, I'm still about 149lbs / 5'8" and its retarted hard to gain weight for me, I've tried HGH, 3 protein shakes a day, Size-on, protein bars out the wazoo and the most I ever got up to was 154lbs. My [voluptuous] friends tell me they hate me.

Hey bro, you look great. The good news, with your body type any weight gain will pretty much be lean mass.

Of course, we can't evaluate your diet without a complete breakdown. But overall, bodybuilding takes preserverance. 2 1/2 years isn't very long. This takes years of dedication, and a consistent diet. You look great anyway. Just keep setting your dietary goals and tracking your progress.

Hey dude, I was the same way a year ago but then I started getting really serious at the gym because the plateau was pissing me off.

I started going to the gym 5-6 days a week and did lots of compound exercises like Bench Press and cleans and all that other fun stuff. I also started eating a hell-of-alot more food too and for the first little while it was hard but it got easier.

last year I lost like 15 lbs of muscle and dipped down from 144 lbs to 129 lbs @ 5'11" yet I was still eating, just not nearly as much as now! in about 14 mths I've gained over 50 pounds and I'm sitting at 180 lbs right now and I'm about to cut.

I've been training for about the same amount of time as you have but on/off...like I wouldn't go to the gym for a few weeks in the summer or something every now and then. Just stay committed, eat big, lift big, and the gains will definitely come!

P.S. Keep up the good work...great arm development!

Keep chowing down and working hard, the size will come.

BTW, I you aren't anywhere near 5% bodyfat. 5% is extremely shredded. I'd put you closer to 10+.

You want size? Eat a huge amount of body building food, lift 3 times a week splitting your body up in sections for those 3 days, rest 4 days a week. Get plenty of sleep and recovery/growth time. Eat some more then when you're full, go for seconds. After all that get a protein shake down.

No one can get big when they aren't getting the effort in to get the food down. Cutting is the easy part, you follow a strict diet, getting huge is the hardest thing I have experienced. So many meals have to be put down with water. Half of the meal left on my plate usually goes down by water, unless its steak, which I down in 5 mins tops. So there's no way about it. You just need to eat like an animal, lift like a monster and rest like you're in hibernation.

Also, with your BF, 5% is absolutely cut, shredded! Most guys that are around 8-10% you can or should be able to see most of their abs and have cuts in their legs (heads showing). I can't see much with these pics but.
