Default Casein and ZMA at bedtime...

I am supposed to take ZMA 30 mins before bed but I am also supposed to have a casein shake(lots of calcium in it) before bed. Do I give one up? They do not seem to compliment each other but both are useful, I need direction.

Also, is mixing casein powder with milk redundant or does it make perfect sense(same protein source)?

Take the casein shake an hour or earlier before you go to bed, then take the ZMA right before you sleep. I'm not sure about hte timing, but you're def. going to want to distance the two by a fair margin, otherwise, you're going to have to cut one out.

I take my ZMA and then I take my caesin 45-60 minutes after the ZMA. I still get the crazy dreams, so I guess it works.

You're not getting the full effect of the ZMA if you're taking casein 45mins after your zma. If you don't mind wasting your $$, I guess that works.

How is that possible? Your ZMA is fully digested by then. I always like to have my shake before my ZMA, but on days where I was very busy and get home late or whatnot, I like to take my ZMA 1 hour before my shake.

Increased B6:
At least one preliminary study has found that this vitamin may increase dream vividness or the ability to recall dreams[2]. It is thought that this effect may be due to the role this vitamin plays in the conversion of tryptophan to serotonin[2].

The issue with calcium is the magnesium absorption (maybe zinc too?) but apparently the dreams might be a result of the extra b6. So if you're dreaming, it could be a sign that you're getting b6 but doesn't necessarily indicate absorption of the magnesium (which is key to ZMAs benefits).
