Default Increasing weight

I was wondering if there is a certain standard or norm when it comes to increasing the weight your lifting.

For example, with my routine, my goal is to increase the weight I am lifting by 5lbs/arm per week (for my max).

Example: DB Lifts. If I am doing 35lbs in each arm, my goal is 40lbs next week.
Bench Press. If I am doing 150lbs total, my goal is 160lbs next week (since I am using both arms).

Does that sound realisitc? Because thats pretty much been how my inscreases have been going the last couple of weeks.

Thanks
-Z

Hmmmmmmmm, that seems a little unrealistic to me. Think of it this way. Say you are doing 35 lb curls this week. If you were to increase 5 lbs each week, a year from now you would be doing around 300 lbs in each arm. That's good that you are increasing weight that quickly now, but I doubt you will continue in that fashion. That's just my opinion though, congrats on your gains so far!

I can curl 120 but it took me 2 years. Once you hit a platu just be creative thats the key. You have found the best source for information that there is (the internet) so you can't go wrong now.

I know that shocks are very useful when you hit a wall. I like to use supersets and dropsets to bust through a plateau.
