Default The best time to sneak some cheat-foods in?

I was just thinking, and I am wondering if the best time to sneak some cheat-foods in is after your PWO shake?

I am not talking about having a huge fastfood meal with fries and a burger or something, but lets say 1 or 2 chocolate chip cookes out of the bag in the cupboard. Little tidbits like that.

I'm no scientist, but I don't really see a problem with that since your insulin levels are already up from the dextrose and maltodextrin. Any opinions on this?

I don't think so.

If it's IMMEDIATELY after your shake, then you are going to be slowing the gastric emptying of your shake, therefore prolonging the time it takes for the protein therein to get to your muscles.

If it's as our PWO meal, then I don't think so either because the entire PWO process is very important. You will be having high levels of blood sugar because of the shake and you want complex carbs(not candy bars) to even these levels out.

I would cheat nowhere near my workout or workout meals.

I've always believed the best time would be WHILE drinking your PW shake.

Mind you I don't use the PWO shake advocated on this site. I wonder what would happen if I did that properly?

from the article "A Scientific Investigation into the Rationality of Post Workout Carbohydrate Consumption" by Adam Knowlden (on this site under advanced nutrition)

"Oftentimes, articles will illogically assert that the post-workout “window” is a sort of “get out of jail free card,” claiming the post-workout phase presents itself as an opportune time to eat highly processed junk foods, like ice cream or candy bars, as one is unlikely to gain fat.

Post-workout is not a time to binge on sucrose-filled junk food; on the contrary, the post-training meal should be taken more seriously than any other serving of food in the day!

The idiocy behind prescribing junk food post-workout is self-explanatory from the descriptions of inferior sugars given in this essay, and the fact that these foods do not consider proper carbohydrate ratios or assimilation via gastric emptying."
