I am training a friend right now that has pain in her upper hip. She says that the pain is in the front of her leg and that she does not seem to have very much strength in it. An example she gave was- when she is getting into her car she sometimes has to actually pick up her leg to get it into the car. When there is pain she says it is a shooting pain so she is thinking it might be a pinched nerve or something to do with the nerve. When we go about 3 times around an outdoor track I notice that she starts to limp around. She has gone to a doctor but they told they could not find anything- this was a basic physical. Any ideas as to what is causing the pain? Thank you.

She should tell her doctor to recommend a specialist that can examine her. A basic physical often doesn't reveal everything. It simply covers the basics. A specialist will be able to isolate the area and examine it more thoroughly.
Good luck,

Thank you for your response. I told her she should go to her doctor and see if they can recommend a specialist for her. Hopefully they will be able to help her out.
