Default What to use Post and Before workouts?

I just got full access to a gym down my street. Right now i'm just doing explosive workouts and drinking 2 scoops of protein whey with milk. I'm only 17 years old and i was wondering what other supplements i can take along with protein whey because i heard that mixing chemicals is not reccommended but i feel obligated to ask here just to be sure.

Also one more question, if i'm just gonna work on my back/chest/biceps/and triceps, how long should i wait in between days to workout those same parts again? And what supplements should i use on my rest days? Thanks in advance.!

Also i forgot to tell you i'm 120 pounds.

Hi

Welcome to ABC!

For post workout nutrition, read this, http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/windowofopportunity.php

Concerning pre-workout nutrition, you want to have a moderate to fast digesting source of protein, such as eggs, whey, or chicken 90 minutes before you workout, along with a slowly digesting carbohydrate, such as oatmeal.

Then, within 30 minutes of your workout, you want to have some essential amino acids. Doing this can increase protein synthesis 150%! I cannot stress how vital this is. In fact, results indicate that if you don't have essential amino acids right before your workout, you will be in a state of catabolism (muscle breakdown) during your workout. Whearase, you will actually be in a state of anabolism DURING your workout, if you consume essential aminos.

Here is the perfect product for this, http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/amino...ooterindex.php

Concerning other supplements to take, anything we list in our store (linked above) or in the nutrition section here, http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/front...4&subId=16 works great.

If you are limited with a budget, just get a few at a time and see how they work. Start out with the basics: whey protein, the amino acid shooter, glutamine, creatine, and a mult-vitamin. You can add from there.

And there are no adverse side effects from those supplements.

If you train hard, for optimal recovery, you will need to rest 4-5 days between that workout.

The PWO drink is only for after a weight workout, not cardio, and not on an off day.

if possible, try to split that workout up into at leat 2 days. if you work all of those sections in one day, you're bound to slack towards the end of your workout.
for instance, try doing chest/triceps, and back/biceps on two separate days.

as for the nutrition, you can drink regular protein shakes any other time, but the amino acids are only for pre-workout, and the Post-Workout shake is only for post-workout.

EAA's aren't only for pre-workout, but it's certainly the essential time to take them.

but EAA shooters are expensive, and supplementing with them on off-days is kind of a waste in my opinion... you can get them from other sources.

Check out the sick workouts in the workout section, and the 13 week fatburning workout is a great training split that lays out your entire routine. Ive had tremendous growth with this program and and it still delivers!

Sure it's expensive, but it's great in terms of caloric efficiency, which is especially good during a cut. It's also great in terms of spiking your amino concentration levels in your blood, which as we know from the awesome protein series in JHR is key to protein synthesis.

I'm not saying have it between all meals or anything, but it can be used for more than just pre-workout.
