I read the window of oppertunity article, but it left me more confused than before. It explained the importance of the ingredients well, but there was stuff missing.
1.what exacly goes in a PWO shake and how do you make it? 2.are you supposed to put oats in there? 3.where do you get dextrose, maltodextrin and chromium? 4.how can you tell that you are getting good quality products? 5.what should I be looking for when I buy whey? 6.if this is so great why is it that no one knows about or sells this stuuf? There should be an article on this cause I am realy lost.

I read the window of oppertunity article, but it left me more confused than before. It explained the importance of the ingredients well, but there was stuff missing.
1.what exacly goes in a PWO shake and how do you make it? Dextrose, maltodextrin, whey, sodium and water. You make it by placing the ingredients into a bottle of some sort and shake. Or is you question relating to the process of ascertaining how much of each ingredient you require? 2.are you supposed to put oats in there? No. 3.where do you get dextrose, maltodextrin and chromium? I get my dextrose and maltodextrin from the supermarket. However, if you can't get any there, try a brewery. 4.how can you tell that you are getting good quality products? I would imagine all dextrose and maltodextrin is pretty much the same. As for whey, while there are many variables, you generally want something with low fat and carb (especially sugar) levels. 6.if this is so great why is it that no one knows about or sells this stuuf? It is incorrect to assume that 'no one' knows about the type of post-workout nutrition advocated in that article. On the contrary, I would suggest that most serious bodybuilders are aware of the general principles of effective PWO nutrition. Furthermore, it is also not true that no-one is selling products which resemble this type of PWO shake. For example, Maxs in Australia have different supplements for each period in the day, including a post-workout shake that is quite similar to that which is proposed in the Window of Opportunity article. Only difference is there is a less carbs and costs a great deal more! |

Ok thanks a lot.
So any whey will do as long as its low fat and low carb, there arn't any other things to look for? What would be relatively considered "low"? Is there such a thing as just whey and no flavoring? Any particular reason Champion Nutrition is realy good?

You want to go with a brand that is reputable. Almost all supplements except for two are not regulated by the FDA, which means you really dont know what is in the product. So you can either go with a reputable brand such as champion nutrition which is 1 of the two regulated by the FDA or you can just buy something cheap off of ebay.
I suggest that you read the window of opportunity article again, and ask questions about specific things your confused on the article. |

Thanks for the response.
Whey or Champion Nutrition is regulated? I'm under the impression that GNC is "reputable", but isn't their stuff crap, or is that not true. I'll re-read The Window of Opportunity article again. What seemed to confuse me the most was application though(finding and buying the right stuff). I've neglected a lot of aspects regarding nutrition to focus on training and am trying to compensate now seeing that it is imperative for me to understand.

All champion nutrition products--including whey protein--are FDA regulated. The only other company I know that does this is ON.
