Recently i have noticed that a lot of "low-card" or "no-carb" foods contain sugar alcohols. What exactly are these and how are they any different than sugar in terms of caloric value how your body uses them?

Sugar alcohols dont cause a insuline spike but they cause diaherrea and gas. It is the only thing I know about them.

The "diet" ice cream I eat uses them.
I can say that it is true that gas output is increased. |
