Can my first meal of the day (whey.water.ice cubes.) also be my pre-workout meal? How long should I wait before I do my workout?

you really want your first and pre workout meals to have a complex carb...brown rice, oatmeal, sweet potatoe ( did i misspell it like dan quail?)
as far as the whey goes, that is perfect for first meal and pre workout I would eat it 30 mins before workout |

[/ QUOTE ] If you could add oats to this mix it would be much more suitable and be an appropriate first meal of the day and an appropriate pre-workout meal. Oats, Whey, water blends really well in a blender and goes down easy.
