Default Pet loss

I just lost my cat yesterday who was only 5 years old, it was so unexpected since he was so young which I think makes it hurt more. He was just laying dead on the living room floor and it looks like it was at least very sudden and painless. I just wanted to post about my frustration over it and see if anyone else has gone through something similar.

Five is right out! Once the number three, being the third number be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thou foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

That is odd that he died so soon. Did he eat something he was not supposed to ? Like aspirin or chocolate ?

Well I searched a little on the internet about it, he was a maine coon and apparently they can be born with a pre-existing heart condition in which the heart can just suddenly stop during adolescence or early adulthood. It's pretty sad that he died so young but there's nothing I can do but accept it and move on.

As a total cat lover I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I've had my cat for a good 9, almost 10 years now. She's approaching 16 or 17 now but I'm hoping she sticks around for at least a few more years! Cats can be great companions since they're such attention *****s

Oh man, I totally feel for you. I had 2 cats from the time I was like 3 till I was about 18 or 19 years old. They both lived long, full lives, but we ended up putting both of them down for age-related problems. It was so hard for me because I knew it was coming, so I had to say good bye. I cried my eyes out for days. I still have thier ashes in little wooden boxes so I can say hello whenever I want. (It may sound gross to some of you, but true animal lovers understand). I also had a golden retriever, Emily, for 12.5 years. She was the love of my life....talk about an AWESOME dog! She had some health problems for the last 2-3 years of her life, but her death was somewhat unexpected. I could tell something wasn't right with her one day, so I pampered her a little...I gave her a bath with lavendar-mint doggie shampoo when I got home from school...I dried her off, kissed her goodnight, then went to bed. The next morning I went downstairs to let her out (so she could do her business) and I found her lying on her bed, dead...the vet said she seem to have suffered....he said she must have died very shortly after I went to bed. It broke my heart when she died. I still get teary when I think about her. I have her ashes too.
I know you're probably really torn up right now, but time will heal your heart. I'm sorry for you loss...I've been there.

Sorry about your loss. Back in 2001 when my sister and I lived together, she had a cat that she let outside a lot. One day my ex-gf and me found the cat across the street. It had been hit by a car and needless to say, it wasn't pretty. One of the toughest things I've ever had to do was tell my sister what happened.

The same thing happened about six months after I left for the Marines. That part really sucked because at the time, it felt like I had already lost a bunch of friends and family...since I couldn't see them all the time anymore and losing my dog was just the icing on the cake.
It will get better though and you'll always have the memories!
