Well the generally accepted amount is 3500 cals.

But there is no way to accuratly measure this so it could be anywhere from 3000 to possible 7000 no one really knows.

But the 3500 cal principle has worked well for alot of people so i would say its problable close to right.

I've got MANY hours on the treadmill in January. I've had a very lax diet since July when I went to Florida, so I have almost approx 25 lbs of weight to lose.

On a level surface your body burns approx. 100 calories per mile, walking or running. Of course, running is more efficient interms of calorie expenditure, but it is nice to know that you don't hav to run to burn calories.

If you watch Ronnie Coleman do cardio, he just does the stairclimber really slow. He also works out in 100 degree weather.

[/ QUOTE ]

1 lb = 454 grams

1 gram of fat is around 9 calories

therefore, 9 x 454 = 4086 calories

So if you eat 1 lb of fat then you will be eating 4086 calories.

However, in terms of losing 1 lb of fat by means of reducing your caloric intake bu 4086 calories, either through diet or exercise, more factors come into play.
