Because it is extremely hard to digest.
Many of the benefits from steak come several hours after. Particularly, the hormonal benefits. It takes time to synthesize the hormones it stimulates, such as testosterone.

I have never had Buffalo,,what does it taste like? Is it an aquired taste or what? I would really like ot know,,,,if it is good for bulking I would try it to change from steak for a while? [/ QUOTE ] It's really tasty! Ground buffalo is my favorite, an awesome alternative to ground beef that is higher in fats. It makes really good burgers too. Sometimes I cut up green onions, and mix in with some oatmeal and an egg too. Makes really good burgers! Taste is a lot like plain ole beef. Its not "gamey" and I bet you wont know the difference other then the fact that it is pretty lean. |

Buffalo, I thought that they were pretty much extinct from the American settlers killing them off? [/ QUOTE ] When the environmentalist laws went through, they made a giant rebound. In addition, buffalo can be kept like normal cattle. I'd be interested to find out more about buffalo meat and how the aminos, etc compare. Anyone have some good sources (information) on it yet?

Venom, i have read the pre-contest week journal article, would you reccommend a lean steak several hours before a competition? provided you are still not drinking water.
I have heard a lot of people eating a very fatty/salty meal before a competition but never quite understood the rationality behind it, care to explain? thanks!

That does not make sense to me. You want to avoid salt on the day of the contest, as it will cause you to hold water. So no, I would not do that.

[/ QUOTE ] In my experience with local cuts of buffalo and ground buffalo, as well as some research, buffalo is no less fatty inherently than beef. It just depends on the cut. Unfortunately because buffalo is such a smaller market than beef, there is much less selection and as far as the prepackaged ground buffalo goes, I could only get it in 15% fat, which is WAY higher than I ever have with ground beef. Consequently I never really have buffalo anymore. I do love beef top sirloin, beef top round, and 4% ground beef though! Oh man, i just got back from a long run, and seeing the word steak just made my mouth water so much. I could really go for a nice, fat Filet Minon wrapped in Bacon, ohhh mama.
