Smoked salmon generally contains a lot of salt, I personally would use fresh salmon over smoked. Now by your use of the word "diet" I expect you mean weight loss, or what is referred to here as a "cut". In this case bread is not preferred, but if you are to include bread it should be a whole grain bread. Most common "multigrain" breads are manufactured with enriched or enriched "wheat" flours, and these are not any better than your common white bread.

Oh wow! That helped me out quite a bit. And yes, I am on a cut. I thought that a healthy bread was okay on a cut?

On a cut I usually stick to GLV's and oatmeal (not including PWO of course) for carbs. I may throw in a sweet potato once a week or a couple slices of bread once a week but thats it. Its proven proven that less variety will help with your satiety complex so stick with outs and GLV's.

Green leafy vegetables. For me its usually just spinach leaves and broccoli, however all different types of lettuce and other vegetables are included.

If you do eat bread, make sure to check out the RDA on the package. Most loaves indicate that a serving size is a single slice. Therefore, use one piece to make a sandwich, unless two fits into your macros.

Well, you need to remember the less processed the food, the better it is. Check the bodybuilder's grocery list on the Recipes Board.
Also, whenever you put something in your mouth, you need to assess how it supports your goals. Complex carbs like brown rice, wild rice, whole wheat bread, oatmeal, legumes, etc, have a place on a cut...depending on your training schedule. Of course, first meal of the day will always include complex carb, as well as pre and post workout meals. Check the 13 week fat burning diet, then you will have an idea of what I am talking about. Also, is the whole wheat bread made of a 100% stoneground whole wheat? How high in fiber is it per slice? What are the other ingredients? Many things that are good for you don't taste good..but around here..we use food as fuel even if it is the rare cheat. Amazon
