Yeah, it's got some problems. First, it's the "old school" periodization model -- several stages of training going through strenght, power, size, etc. People debate whether this is optimal.
Next, it's got a lot of foo-foo exercises that are pretty useless, IMO. Also, the "hypertrophy" phase has you doing 3 & 4 sets of 10 over and over on all the exercises. Notice what's missing -- a plan for progression. And then when you go BACK to the strength phase, they drop squats and the only back exercises I see are one armed DB rows and lat pulldowns. LMAO!! Where are the Deads, or GM's, or cleans, or ??? And to top it all off, the 'strength' phase has you doing 4x8 instead of 4x10. LMAO!! IMO, this program needs improvement in terms of (1)managing workload and overall progression, and (2) exercise selection. Follow it if you're a total noob who wants to get frustrated, or someone who's too lazy to read up on basic training theory. |
