Default What did I do wrong?

I have a question. I did preacher curls and hammer curls the other day. Instead of my biceps being sore, what looks to be my Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus (based on looking at an anatomy chart) is what is sore. Can someone tell me what I did wrong form wise? Thank you.

Possibly you may have been flexing your wrists. Flexing the wrist could allow the forearm to be used as a secondary muscle. Just watch your form next time more, and see if this is the issue. Hope that helps.

You need to work on your mind muscle connection. Concentrate on the biceps contraction at the time of performing the exercise. Naturally, hammer curls put additional emphasis on the forearms, so you will feel it there too.

Biceps are hard to get DOMS in even with good form for some people - hitting them from lots of different angles tends to work for me.

I managed to get them to ache for 3 days after blitzing them the other day

It could be that the volume you are doing is not sufficient enough for your biceps, and you were just giving your extensors a thrashing with those hammer curls - though you don't have to have DOMS every time you work out - it's not a sure fire indicator of a good workout

Thanks for the different input. I appreciate it. Thought I was concentrating during my bicep contractions -- I know I was looking at those suckers because it was funny to watch the different shapes they take at different parts of the curl but perhaps I was not concentrating enough...will double check my wrists (whew...long sentence). Will also up the weight some and, cool...didn't know the hammers work the forearms some too.
