Well today was probably my worst workout ever. Yesterday i did lats/lower chest and today i wanted to do upper back/ upper chest for a shock. Well it started off rough, my incline bench was a awful, strength way down which i wouldn't have minded but i got absolutly no pump at all. I do 3 sets of these move to try some incline flys, same thing, no pump (i am using light weight with slow negs). I try some BB rows, nothing, incline becnh rows, nothing. I could not get the slightest burn at all and my strength was in the gutter. So i figure i will try some bicep work today and just switch around my split. I have some soreness in the lower part of them from Pullups the day before but still figure i should be ok, so I Run the Rack with Alternating Bicep curls, no pump, just the pain i was working through on the DOMS that seemed to get worse. I try a few other exercises and can't even get something done there either. Finally i figure i will do calves today and have space for something else on leg day, my calve workout was actually ok and i had a nice burn working them luckily (too bad it was already 30mins into my workout) so i do 30mins of calves and leave.
Now for my question, i figure my body was trying to tell me it needed some rest, so i am wondering if it would be ok for a cardio day tommorrow or should i take the day completely off? I am going to my cottage friday will will have 3 days off there to recover as well. PS. It has only been about 3-4 weeks since my last taper.

I think it would be alright to do some cardio. Something like that happened to me recently, all I did was just lift longer, don't know if I should of done that, but it worked.

when my body doesnt respond, i rest it. 3 days off will be good for you if you are feeling down. come back to the gym, with a game plan and the energy to do it. just destroy it when you get back.

What's your diet look like right now? When my diet isn't so hot, my workouts aren't so hot either. Maybe it's a combination of diet and rest?

(James 1:2-8) Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds. Because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double minded man, unstable in all he does. (Romans 8:28) 28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,[j] who[k] have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. 31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? |

i say rest...you're gains aren't going to completely disappear if you take an extra day or two off.
