What do you guys think of Liquid multivitamins? They seem to be slightly more expensive but boast higher and faster absorbtion rates. I found these at GNC.

Unless the fact that most capsules are time-released would have anything to do with you getting more throughout the day.

Don't you want a slow absorbtion rate for a multi for the day?

Don't you want a slow absorbtion rate for a multi for the day? [/ QUOTE ] this was my thought when i first heard about these liquid vitamins. i want slow and steady absorbtion when it comes to my vitamins. i know this is not always the case and it depends on other things like how the vitamin is made and what it is made with. but i am no expert. i just take two a day with food.

I use a liquid multi vitaMINeral, and it works pretty well for me, and it also contains some whey protein. The guys at the store said that it is much better absorbed than pills, and I think there might be some truth to that. Anyway, mine contains:
Two tablespoons (30 ml) contains: A-vitamine (betakaroten) 1,5mg B1-vitamin (tiamin HCI) 10 mg B2-vitamin (riboflavin) 10 mg B3-vitamin (niacin) 10 mg B5-vitamin (pantotenacid) 25mg B6-vitamin (pyridoxin) 10mg B12-vitamin (cyanokobalamin) 10mcg C-vitamin (ascorbic acid) 1000mg D2-vitamin (ergokalciferol) 10mcg E-vitamin (d-alfatocoferol) 133 mg Biotin 100mcg Bor (citrate) 500mcg Fol(ic?) acid 400 mcg Inositol 25mg Kolin (bitartrat) 25 mg PABA (para-amino-benzoesyra) 10 mg Iodine (kalium) 150mcg Iron (ferrofumerat) 1mg Calcium (trikalciumcitrate) 250mg Kalium (trikaliumcitrat) 200mg Copper (citrate) 1mg Chrome (kelaterat) 50mcg Magnesium (citrate) 300mg Mangan (sulfate) 2mg Q10 (water solutable) 10mg Selen (natrium selenit) 50mcg Zink (citrate) 5mg Bioflavonoids 50mg L-alanin 28mg L-arginin 32mg L-aspartin acid 66mg L-cystin 25mg L-fenylalanin 42mg L-glutamin acid 180mg L-glycin 18mg L-histidin 24mg L-isoleucin 50mg L-leucin 76mg L-lysin 70 mg L-metionin 48mg L-prolin 90mg L-serin 50mg L-treonin 40mg L-tryptofan 12mg L-tyrosin 14mg L-valin 60mg [Had to translate some things from swedish, so there might be some errors] Anyways, does it look good? |

Don't you want a slow absorbtion rate for a multi for the day? [/ QUOTE ] As you can see, I adressed this in my first post. I'm not sure if the time released ability in capsules would be better than a quick and full absorbtion rate. A problem with a lot of multivitamins is that your body can't absorb everything, which is why now we have gel-capsules, time released pills, and 2-a-day pills. So would the slow time released throughout the day pills be better or a quickly absorbed liquid?

I don't think slow or fast absorption is the main thing to look for, it's complete absorption.
I think that faster absorbing vitamins MAY be more efficient so breaking your doses up over the day would be the best method of spreading it out. They may be more expensive but it would be interesting to see if they make up for it in actual absorption. Keep in mind, I said "think" twice here, no science here. Jeff. |

You have a good point but isn't the reason multivitamins have insane amounts of the vitamins present because not all of it is absorbed so they put excess in so more is absorbed?

So, does anyone else have anything on it?

It would seem logical that they do get absorbed faster. And like someone else said, dividing up the daily dose into smaller doses could be optimal.
I can't answer much of your question about complete absorption. Though, you have mentioned two negatives already, sugars and price, oh and a third, GNC . So why not settle for the regular time released or two a day pills. They boast less negatives at least Good luck on your choice though |
