Calories in Total EFA capsule

Hi, just wondering how many calories are in your a typical Total EFA capsule. I am using a total EFA brand that I got at a health food store that is specially formulated for women, and it mentions nothing of the calories on the bottle. Are they minimal, or something I should be adding into my daily totals?

You should be adding them but they are minimum. In one capsule I would guess that there are around 10 calories. A rule of thumb is to find out how much fat there is and times that by 9. In one capsule there is usually one gram. So it will be around ten calories. This is also why capsules are far less then optimal. One tbsp of flax oil has 14grams of fat, which is why your taking it. You would have to have 14 capsules to equal one tbsp, and I usually have 2-3tbsp a day.

Right on, thanks! I pretty much thought that was the case, but had to make sure. I also supplement with flax and safflower oil, so I should be getting enough of the good fats.

Ok good, then I would suggest to have those capsules when you are on the go, or maybe at a restaurant, and have a couple at a time.

Sounds good, so there really isn't any need to take one a day with one of my later meals then? This is what I've been doing.

Well you said that you had flax oil and safflower oil, so you might as well use those since the serving sizes for those will be more optimal then a couple capsules.
