Firstly - im not sure this is the best forum to post this on but i cant post in the discussion forum and i thought this had more to do with nutrition than with training, so im sorry for posting here.
but Yesterday i read an article written by Charles Glass - It went along the lines of: There was an all natural bodybuilder who was in his bulking phase and bulking to 210 - 220 and then cutting back to 175 for his comp. Now, the question he asked was - is this a good way to go about it? and charles responded with - No, because unlike bodybuilders who use steroids you will not retain your muscle when you drop the fat, infact the amount of fat you drop will be directly proportional to the amount of muscle you will lose at the same time - so instead of hitting 175 for your comp you will hit 160 and look extremely flat. the reason bodybuilders on steroids retain their muscle is because of the anabolic properties of the roids so almost all the weight you lose will be from fat. what do you guys have to say about bulking as a natural bodybuilder and then leaning up? in conclusion he said you would be much better off to increase your weight slowly and keep reasonably lean at the same time - ie: just about see your abs (so dont get too smooth) |

I agree with that for the most part. I try to stay lean as I can while adding muscle.
Trying to drop close to 50lbs for a natural bodybuilder like the example would be dietary hell! But everybody has different philosophies about these things. Dieting harshly for 4 or 5 months is not one of mines! |

Look at Joe King's journal, he's all natural.
