I'm doing "13 weeks" right now. And I did it last year too, each time with tremendous results. (I also did the mass blitz bulking diet for 6 months in between.) Here's a run-down on my stats:
Start weight: 181 starting bodyfat: 17% starting waist: 35" Current Weight: 165 current bf: 12% current waist: 31" My goal is to get to single digits, so I am going to keep going longer than 13 weeks, but I have taken a week off a couple times to reset my metabolism....It'll be a success story once I get to my goal. |

I did the 13 Weeks Diet and Workouts last Spring and had the results beyond my comprehension. My pictures are in my signature if you would like to check them out. My journal also has all of my dietary strategies and workouts. Try looking from late March-Early July of last year towards the beginning of my journal if you are interested. I plan on utilizing it once again this year and I cannot wait to get it started at the end of the month. Last year I went from 18% body fat down to 10%, and this year I would like to take my 15 or 16% and turn it into 8%. ABC has some very good programs for you to use that are proven to work. Best of luck to you and if you need any assistance please ask. |

And remember that like many things, it takes practice and you will go through a learning curve. I recently completed the 13 week diet and routine, which was my first real cut. I could have been more successful (wasn't as strict part of the time due to overlapping Thanksgiving and Christmas!) but still I'm happy with the success I did have (dropped from 12% to 8%). But more importantly, I learned a lot and saw most of my success near the end after getting over the learning curve hump, so I can't wait for my next cut as I know I'll be even more successful.
So the moral of the story is, don't expect instant perfection with your first cut - enjoy the success you achieve and apply what you learned on your next cut for even more success! |

I had great results with the 13 weeks nutrition and workout program. Its almost two years since i finished using it but I lost approx. 20lbs in about 16 weeks (i extended it a little) brought my BF% from 16% to 11% and retained a nice amount of muscle mass.

I'm not following it strictly, but in principal. In addition to cutting out crap, I'm eating 4 - 5 meals a day instead of 1 - 2. I've pretty much eliminated fruit. My breakfast is religiously Whey and oats now. I'm getting 2 - 3 servings of green leafy vegatables each day. I'm staying away from carbs with that rank high on the glycemic index except for my PWO shake. I'm drinking (at least trying) 5 -6 tall glasses of water a day aside from my work out. I've phased in supplements: glutamine, multi-vitamin, chromium piccolate and some omega 3 capsules. I will add creatine in a few days. (had a target weight loss goal by a specific date and was afraid to add water weight)
I'm working out 5 - 6 days a week with a 5 day split that includes 3 days of resistance training and two days of cardio. My cardio sessions are 45 - 60 minutes and I do my best to keep my average heart rate in the 65 - 70% of maximum heart rate range. I don't have much experience with free weights so have been getting tons of info from this site, from articles, forums, workout plans etc. I'm not very good at following other's plans to a tee and I like to mix things up and create my own for better or worse. Pretty much everything I listed above, except for cutting out the crap (I had a 2 liter cola a day habit to kick amongst other things) I learned about here on this website. Results through 8 weeks: Lost 15 pounds Added some muscle, especially around chest and shoulders Added quite a bit of strength Tucking my shirts in again Happier wife Things I've learned: * Once I cut the crap out of my diet, vegetables taste good * A blender realy helps the taste of whey shakes * When I stop drinking as much water, my weight loss slows down * The nutrition forum on ABC is an absolute goldmine of information For reference, I'm 38, 5'8 and currently about 160 lbs. Goal is 145, then I get to try my first ever bulk - CAN'T WAIT! My short term goal is feel confident on a beach vacation we have planned in May. My long term goal is to be healthy role model for my friends and family including some I want to help to lose weight and give up some life threatening habits. Also, though the information on this site is great, there was an article on another site that helped me to get started as well. It has a great theme: http://www.leehayward.com/fat_loss_beginners.htm Goodluck! |

I didn't follow the 13 week one as strictly as it is on this site. I didn't have time to worry about cycling calories and what not but followed everything about what to eat and how often. I couldn't be as strict as I wanted to seeing as how I was working 80 hours a week (2 full time jobs) but I still went from 218 to 192 in 12 weeks at being 6'4" and gained strength throughout the whole period.
