I know this has been discussed here a lot, but it is an ongoing problem at my gym. Not really a problem, everyone just thinks I lift is a dangerous way.
My last set of squats is 130 kilo ( 286 lbs ) and my last set of deads is 150 kilo ( 330 lbs ). The trainers just walk by and shake their heads as they look at me. Should I really use a belt? I have never used a belt before. I do not see how they really help. Especially when guys use belts for bench press and tri push downs.

A belt is really just for safety purposes. If you feel that the weight your lifting won't cause you to get injured than maybe you dont need a belt. I know many people who use belts and many who don't. It might be worth trying out for a while, maybe you'll like it, plus it may prevent you from injury in the future.
The trainers may just be shaking their heads at you because its part of their job to encourage safe workout habits. As for the people who use belts for benching, i can't figure these people out. i just assume they're trying to start some new fashion statement.

[/ QUOTE ] HAHAHA yeah, I get such a kick out of those guys. They wear their belt during EVERY exercise. I'm still waiting for the day that I see soeone wearing one while on a treadmill.

what would a gym be without the 95 pound male with wide lat syndrome wearing a belt?

i would NOT wear belts for 99% of your lifts. Such belts create an artificial intra-abdominal pressure meaning you are losing the training effect of specific exercises on the stabilising muscles of your stomach and back. I would only wear the belt (if at all) on your one rep maxes in deadlift and squat and bench.
