but most of the posts that'd come up would've been authored by me anyways...
I've posted this numerous times before but have never gotten a satisfactory answer. Listen up. My mom tends to really stress herself out over a lot of things, some big, some small. One of the things she likes to stress about is how I eat before I go to bed. She thinks I should leave at least 2 hours between my meal and bed time, which is obviously not advocated here at ABC. I understand why we eat before bed. However, her arguments have never been addressed here. Essentially she claims that: The digestive system needs to recover and repair itself during sleep and to introduce food into the system while sleeping interrupts this process. Leaving heavy foods like cottage cheese in the system disable the body from properly repairing its organs and such and such. Mods, Wilson, Yu, anybody, please help me out here! I told her I'd email one of the doctors she regularly reads (through newsletters) about this question. I expect the answer to be against ABC's protocols and will post it here for scrutiny later. But in the interest of convenience and peace of mind, if anybody can help me out here, it'd be great. I really need to calm my mother about this issue as she has enough to worry about these days.... Well, she always replies with "Everybody knows it's bad for you, natural medicine doctors know this, the Chinese have known for thousands of years that our bodies work in cycles [ie. different organ systems repair themselves at particular hours of the night and whatnot], etc, etc"
I always ask to see some real proof but she can never find any. This is why I'm going to email this doctor she's always talking about and see what he says.

I would tell her to produce "scientific" evidence to support her claim. Until then, I'd eat my CC and have sweet dreams.

Meanwhile, don't eat your pre-sleep meal in front of her |

Well, I'm at college right now so she only knows I still eat close to bed when I talk to her on the phone. I don't want to lie to her ya know?

eating before bedtime has alway had a bad rap. but then again, as bodybuilders, we eat, workout and rest to acheive different goals than most people out there! that is the way i look at it. so, when anyone questions my diet i tell them that i eat for what i want to accomplish. for a bodybuilder, it only makes sense to have a pre bed meal.

It's the same as people who say "Three squares a day!" It doesn't make any sense. Like the saying "weights make you muscle-bound!" these are things that have been repeated enough times that people believe them. Frustrating, it is.
