Default Torn Rotator Cuff

Yup.... After 3 months of pain and not being able to workout, I finally saw a doctor. I have a torn rotator cuff. Anyone ever had surgery? And how long until you were able to workout again?

In case anyone was wondering. I tore it doing military presses on a machine. I always do arnold presses with free weights, but i decided to switch it up. My 5th rep was very difficult to get up but I was slowly finishing my rep when i felt a very painful, warm sensation in my upper tricep. The best way I could describe it is that it felt like someone grabbed on to my tricep and tried to pull it out of my body. I've been in constant pain ever since, but its not horrible. I just want to get back into the gym again as soon as possible

It probably got worse because 3 months is along time before seeing a doctor.

I would also start seeing a physio for treatment, that helped me a long way back to full recovery.

thanks man,, believe me so do I haha... I'm kinda jumping the gun here, the doctor i saw said surgery MIGHT be an option... but its been hurting constantly for 3 months so im assuming its most likely going to happen. I'm seeing a shoulder specialist in about a week to get his opinion. I definately waited too long to do this!

There are degrees of tears, so it depends. My business partner tore his in July and he had to have surgery. He is still going to physical therapy and does not have full use of his shoulder yet. May have to have surgery again, but his was considered a pretty bad tear -- maybe 4".
