I am currently using a 5-day split on the weekdays, with the weekend off.
My question is: Will a 7 day split without a rest day hinder my progress? Or should I keep it at 5 days with 2 rest days? Or 6 days with 1 rest day? |

just make sure to eat more, the only indicator that you are not gaining mass is if you are not gaining weight, so weigh yourself every week and if you are not putting on the pounds up your cals.

eat, eat, eat! have you tried dirty bulking? you are are still young so i would suggest eating a ton of food! bulk dirty. but make sure you get in as much protein as you should be getting and don't worry so much about carb and fat sources. and yes, i would rest two days a week. between eating everything in sight, lifting heavy, and resting enough you should be able to gain a little easier. this is what worked for me!

Dirty bulking is okay I guess but you put on a lot of unnecessary fat. Just eat a lot of carbs (and make an effort to look for complex carbs) and a lot of calories, and of course, a lot of protein. Try the Get Big Diet, worked for me. As for rest, when I go on a 5 or 6 day split, I make sure to up my glutamine intake and take ZMA 30 minutes before bed. For the ZMA, if you don't have some and you want some, just go pick up a bottle of Zinc and Magnesium from a pharmacy or grocery store. If you're too lazy to do a clean bulk, then dirty bulking will give you good results, but your cut is really gonna suck. It will take awhile to drop the fat. |

For the ZMA, I think you are supposed to use B-6 also.

Many ZMA brands already come with B-6. If there's a problem though, B Complex pills aren't hard to find.

I would have at least one day off a week, for sure. I guess experiment to see what your body can handle mate.
