Oatmeal is a good source of carbs because of his low GI.

Take a look at the Body Builder's Grocery List for good carb sources.

Considering you're cutting, you want low GI complex carbs, everything whole wheat and grainy.

Carb sources suggestions for your cut :

Oats - Sweet Potatoes - Yams
Brown Rice : Alternative, not too often

cool thanks...is there any limit to eating these "good" carbs? like should I only eat Oatmeal in the morning?

right now I eat Oatmeal in the morning (half cut oats, 1 cup water) with a little fat free cool whip, cinnamon, two packs of splenda, and a little butter...

I HAVE been losing weight...but throughout the day I have been eating cottage cheese with a spoonfull or two fat free cool whip, spoonfull of natural PB, and vanilla whey protein (my Cottage Cheese Delight)...but that is pretty much my lunch and snack...

then dinner usually some fish or chicken with a can of green beans and sometimes my Cottage Cheese Delight on the side...

I am just trying to figure out what else I can eat that is quick to make during the day because I have classes...although the cottage cheese delight isn't bad...

btw, about to look at that link you provided...thanks

You need much more proteins than that.

There's a limit to them, yes. We'll talk about it.

Your first meal starts good, but I'd drop the fat free whip and the butter, and add around 40-50g of whey protein.
Egg whites could be a substitute.

Overall, you should post your diet and get some critiquing. There are many things you should add/drop.

About the complex carbs, you should lower your intake gradually during the day. For example, out of your 6 meals, the first 3 should be filled with complex carbs / proteins, then next 2 meals, drop the complex carbs and replace them with fibrous carbs, such as leafy green vegetables and all other type of veggies. The scheme for the last 3 could be protein/fibrous carbs/essential fatty acids (a must!)

Read the 13 Weeks To Hardcore Fat Burning Diet, it's a must! (once again )

It will certainly answer all your cutting questions. Read it first, then you'll probably be able to arrange a diet. Then, you should post it so we can help you fix it.

If you want to have rice I'd suggest basmati, brown basmati would be even better I suppose. Prob with rice is that you get lots of carbs but a relatively low volume of food. weight's still dropping

anyway, thanks for the suggestions...I will be working on my diet plan for real this time...

starting with breakfast...I got rid of the fat free cool whip and butter and substituted the butter with egg whites (for the smooth and creamy texture I like in my oatmeal) along with water, cinnamon, and two packs of splenda....the egg whites work so well I will not be tempted to use butter or even milk...

Amazing bro. Keep it on, and your cut will be a big success. Don't forget to fix the rest of your meals

I would add some protein to your breakfast. I believe 1/4 c. of eggbeaters is only around 6 gr. Especially cutting, you need to up your protein. Even not cutting, that is not near enough. The protein in the oatmeal does not really count, it is negligible for us.
