Default Olive Oil

My better half recently purchased a bottle of extra virgin olive oil to put on her salads. She has decided that she doesn't like it and now it is sitting in the pantry unused. I was reading the article on EFA's trying to find a viable use for it in my diet and read that it has 0% Omega-3 and about 8% omega-6 fats in it. I find this to of no benefit to me and was wondering if anyone could enlighten me if there would be any benefit at all to adding it to my diet.

Olive oil absolutely has benefits, it is primarily a source of monounsaturated fats. These increase HDL cholestreol (good kind) and decrease LDL cholesterol (bad kind). The beneits of these are numerous such asprevention of heart attack and atherosclerosis.

I cant stand the taste of pure Olive oil, but i find mixing it with a little bit of white vinegar and oregano solves this.

Mr BJ, of course it has few n6's and no n3's.

Olive Oil contains Omega 9s, and has a lot of benefits. It also lower LDL in the blood. Search for Omega 9s.

I like it in place of butter on a piece of toast. Just spread it on the warm toast real lightly. Very tasty. Many, many ways to use it.

You need to understand that its not just omega's that you need but fat in general. Not saturated or trans, but unsaturated and monounsaturated, which Olive oil is abundant in, and whats all this hating on omega 6s and 9s, there still good for you!!!
