im probly an idiot for not knowing this yet since going to this site for this long but plz bare with me...
my health teacher in high school told me our cells just enlarge(hypertrophy). ive also heard we recruit more cells (hyperplasia). but, then i here that only animals experience hyperplasia. so do we: hypertrophy, hyperplasia, or both??

This is an interseting question becuase all my professors (Dr.'s actually)at school tell me that no hyperplasia takes place, only hypertrophy. They say that more sarcomere will form but no new fibers. I'll have to print some of the articles and see what my professors say.

from what i've read on this site hyperplasia can be induced......although you gots to go hardcore to stimulate the stem cells to recruit totally new cells

Also it's spelled "scientist." |

okay, then i mean "ive heard non-homosapiens are only experience hyperplasia.
another thing i wonder about, is how come my dog can stay buff without ever excercising. it seems humans are the only thing on the planet that posses muscles that will atrophy

That doesn't make to much sense for one species among the 9999999 others don't multiply a certain type of cell; maybe a group like mammals or something but not just humans.
