Default Dumbell squat

In my workout routine at the moment I am doing 3 sets of 10 squats, just with arms out front. At the moment it is getting quite easy so I wanted to use some weights while doing squats and the only weights I have are dumbells. So I have the instructions for a dumbell squat but I cant for the life of me do onee without falling over backwards. (bottom heavy...he he)
Anyway what am I doing wrong? Is my position incorrect? Any other suggestions.

Thanks
Sandra

How are you holding the dumbells?

i know our gym has those weights which you strap around your wrists (they are about 3kg's each)- they look like really big sweat bands - very thick - i use them sometimes when i am feeling brave - and i still fall over and get laughed at but i am gettign there

may consider gettign yourself some or check if you gym has some?

I am holding them down by my side. You know with the bar bit going forwards to back.

try holding the dbs up on your shoulders, that may help you remain more stable. how far apart are your feet?

I have my feet at shoulder width apart, with the toes slightly turned out.
Ta for the putting on shoulders tip.
