MuscleHeadDrew, I'd recommend you read the articles under the nutrition tab. Simple carbs should only be consumed post workout.

Some complex carbs like oatmeal arn't a bad choice either. |

My stomach starts growling as soon as I get out of bed--I found that whey in the AM gets things started right, even if I'm not doing cardio right away (like if my morning consists of getting my daughter ready for daycare, etc). I don't get 'brain fade'--and my stomach doesn't disagree as much as if I ate a regular meal.

I always do cardio and weight lifting on an empty stomach. I have had no problems with doing it these way. Upon completion of my workout I have a protein/fruit smoothie and am satisfied til lunch. My body fat has gone down since losing weight. I also read where you burn more fat this way but I bet it is different for each person.
