Default Cardio on an Empty Stomach

It is said that you burn more fat if you do cardio on an empty stomach, say in the morning. I've also heard that you SHOULD eat a little, otherwise you're tapping into muscle.

So the question remains...
Do you burn more body fat if you do cardio on an empty stomach?

i honestly think every person is different in this respect and they have individual results. i personally have a whey protein shake 30-60 minutes before morning cardio. i perfer to have something in my system first and get my body out of the state of catabolism it is in from not eating all night.

I always have a protein shake 30 minutes before if I am doing cardio in the morning.

How many grams of protein do you ladies have in relation to your LBM? I am at 114lbs and about 12% bf - I have 25grams of whey before cardio in the am and 5-10g glutamine

That's a good question jdf-
I never paid as much attention to that as I should...I always do one protein shake and a bar during the day or two shakes. Plus I make sure I have some type of protein with every meal. Is there some kind of formula we can do? I think I read something on the site that you should have one gram per pound of body weight but don't quote me on that...guess I'm not getting enough!

1-1.5 grams of protein per lb of lbm.

Yep - good rule of thumb. And it's best if it is spread over a minimum of 5 meals.

right, so it is not neccesary to have a bit more in the am to nix that state of catabolism? or PWO for repair?
