Default why do girls do this?

i dont know why but my last 4 girlfriends always change my name from andy to andrew once we start dating. ive seen other girls do this to like robert instead of rob. etc. but i dont really notice guys doing it. yet everytime i ask girls why they want to change my name they have no clue why. i dont have a problem with it im just curious why they and my mother are the only people that seem to do it. any ideas or ladies who do the same thing?

None of my GFs have ever called me David. Maybe they're all in cahoots!

Maybe they like to feel like their a bit special by being the only one to use your full name (or a different name).

Two girls did that to my friend Chris - they called him Christopher.

Funny...never thought about it before now.

It could be for any of a number of reasons. All my friends and co-workers call me Chris, but most of my past GFs started calling me Christian as soon as they found out my full name. Using it seems to signify a special sort of relationship, something different from friends, family, etc., and I'm totally cool with that. In fact, I tend to do the same thing to them!

They may just like the way your name sounds one way versus the other.

I've also noticed that girls from Europe/Russia seem to be more likely to do this name thing than American girls. Maybe there's a cultural factor here?

No clue...I have never done this with any ex-boyfriend...oh...hold on..if they are hispanic, I like to use their name in Spanish, so Steve would be Esteban..LOL. Yes, it does make it feel special, having a unique way of calling someone you are with. And a bet many of you thoughts you had us girls figured out...no such luck! LOL

Er, no idea. I've never done this myself and like nutmeg I'd probably use a silly pet-name. Like Andy-Candy Butt or Andy Apple Pie.

I suppose it's the same thing. Having a special name for your guy that nobody else uses. To the guy's you're Andy, but to your girl and your momma you're "Andrew".
