I did pilates for two semesters at my school. I took intermediate and advanced 4 hours a week total in addition to track practice. I have to say I don't think I had any fat burning benefit. I used it more as a recovery from my other workouts. It's great for core strength and makes you more aware of the center of your body period. Definately helps with posture. Done alone I coudn't see it doing anything expect possibly with posture. I think I read somewhere it burns like 120 calories or something low. I really like piyo ( yoga pilates from a gym). Ashtanga (sp?) is a really great fat burner, you just drop weight and increase flexibility. I love it.
